Recognizing the dark potential within Raven, her mother sought refuge for her in Azarath, a dimension populated by pacifist mystics. The Azarathians, including Raven's surrogate mother Azar, taught her to control her emotions and mystical powers.

Raven faced an ongoing internal struggle between her Azarathian teachings of pacifism and the demonic influence inherited from Trigon. Her challenge was to keep her emotions in check, as intense feelings could trigger her demonic side. Raven's journey took a significant turn when she encountered the Teen Titans, a superhero team consisting of young metahumans. She joined the team and became an essential member, using her mystical abilities to combat supernatural threats.

In a self-sacrificial act, Raven confronted Trigon and absorbed his dark energy, preventing his invasion of Earth. This act led to her temporary demise, but she was later resurrected.
