Shang-Chi is a Marvel Comics superhero known for his exceptional martial arts skills and mastery of various fighting techniques. Created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin, Shang-Chi first appeared in "Special Marvel Edition" #15 in 1973. Also known as the "Master of Kung Fu," Shang-Chi is often portrayed as the son of the villain Fu Manchu.

Shang-Chi was conceived as a martial arts hero during the surge in popularity of martial arts films in the early 1970s.

 Shang-Chi is considered one of the finest martial artists in the Marvel Universe, proficient in various forms of hand-to-hand combat and weaponry. While not possessing superhuman powers, Shang-Chi's physical abilities, agility, and reflexes are honed to peak human levels through intense training. In some storylines, Shang-Chi demonstrates the ability to harness and control his body's natural energy (chi), enhancing his physical and mental attributes.

 Shang-Chi is often depicted as a heroic figure, fighting against crime and injustice. His sense of honor and duty is central to his character. Shang-Chi has been associated with various Marvel superhero teams, including the Heroes for Hire, the Avengers, and more recently, he has become a key character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).


In the MCU, the character of Shang-Chi was brought to the forefront with the release of the film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" in 2021, further solidifying his place in the Marvel cinematic landscape.
