Wasp Marvel Character Insight


The Wasp, also known as Janet Van Dyne, is a Marvel Comics superhero associated with the Ant-Man character.  Similar to Ant-Man, the Wasp has the ability to alter her size. She can shrink down to the size of an insect or grow to giant proportions.

 Janet Van Dyne can fly, utilizing insect-like wings that extend from her back when she shrinks.

The Wasp can generate and discharge bio-electric energy, often using it as a form of offensive weaponry.

Janet Van Dyne was the original Wasp and founding member of the avengers playing a crucial role in the team's early adventures. She gained her powers when she sought the help of Dr. Hank Pym (Ant-Man) after her father's death. Pym exposed her to Pym Particles, granting her the ability to shrink, fly, and generate bio-electric blasts.

 Outside of her superhero activities, Janet is a skilled fashion designer.

Over time, different individuals took on the mantle of the Wasp. Notably, Hank Pym's daughter, Hope Van Dyne, assumed the role.
